Irwin Mitchell Hosts Seminar To Inspire Next Generation Of Legal Talent
The Birmingham office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell has revealed it is the proud sponsor and host of an inspirational event this week which is being held as part of the Law Society’s Black History Month.
Taking place on Thursday, 26th October, the event is aimed at students from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are planning to have a career in law and will feature talks from a number of West Midlands-based lawyers who will share their personal experiences within the sector.
Among the speakers will be Amandeep Dhillon, a Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office, who is set to open the event by providing an insight into the initiatives that the law firm operates in this area.
These include its mentoring programme for BAME members of staff, which has in the past been shortlisted for both a Law Society Excellence Award and a National Diversity Award and more recently won the award for Excellence in Diversity at the Signature Awards in 2017.
Other speakers at the event include Kisha Bolaji, Associate Solicitor at Shoosmiths, Delroy Henry, criminal defence Barrister at Citadel Chambers, and Ololade Saromi, a pupil Barrister at Five Paper Chambers.
Jerry Garvey, Diversity & Inclusion Adviser at the Law Society said: “The Law Society is delighted to be partnering with Irwin Mitchell to celebrate Black History Month for the 4th successive year. This is the biggest Black History Month legal sector event outside London. It provides inspiration to those considering a career in law and highlights the positive contribution that black lawyers make to the profession”.
