Over £22,500 Raised For Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation 20th Anniversary Appeal
A children’s bereavement charity is set to benefit after lawyers at the Cambridge office of Irwin Mitchell joined with colleagues across the UK to raise more than £20,000 in a single month to mark the 20th anniversary of its charities foundation.
The Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) was founded in 1997 by partners and employees of Irwin Mitchell with the aim of supporting organisations which provide a vital service to the communities in which the law firm operates. It has since raised more than £1.5 million for good causes both in the UK and abroad.
To mark its 20th anniversary milestone, the Cambridge-based office of Irwin Mitchell joined forces with counterparts up and down the country to try and raise as much money as it could throughout October.
The lawyers are now celebrating after raising £22,733 across the month, with those funds being divided between 13 Charities of the Year nominated by each Irwin Mitchell office. Funds from the Cambridge team will go to STARS who help young people deal with grief.
Neil Whiteley, the Regional Managing Partner of Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge office, said:
Expert Opinion
“The Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation has been an incredible success since its launch and its 20th anniversary is undoubtedly something to celebrate.
“We are immensely proud to have been able to support a host of fantastic causes down the years and are committed to helping many more going forward.
“The fundraising drive across October was fantastic fun and we are delighted to be able to pass on a donation to support the incredible and vital work that the STARS is involved in.” Neil Whiteley - Partner & Director of Legal Services - Personal Injury
STARS offers support to children and young people who have experienced the death of a loved one, as well as those who know that someone important to them is going to pass away.
Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge office has already undertaken a range of events this year to support STARS, with members of staff tackling running challenges including half-marathons. Across October it also undertook special events including a cycling challenge in which colleagues took turns riding static bikes as far as they could during 10-minute slots.
Jeff Massey, Fundraising Manager from STARS, said: “We are delighted with the support everyone at Irwin Mitchell has shown for STARS. We help disadvantaged children in Cambridgeshire through the darkest times of their life to prevent future problems. Irwin Mitchell helps makes this work possible, and many bereaved young people and families are stronger as a result.”
