Paralympian Joins Irwin Mitchell’s Team For Superhero Series
Top Paralympic athlete Dan Greaves has become the latest sportsman to join national law firm Irwin Mitchell’s team for the upcoming Superhero Series, a major event being held to promote the huge benefits of all-inclusive disability sports.
'Discus Dan', who has won a medal at every Paralympics held since 2000 including a gold at Athens in 2004, is set to lead a team in the Celebrity Tri being held as part of the event on August 19th at Dorney Lake in Buckinghamshire.
As well as his huge Paralympics success, 34-year-old Dan is a World and European champion gold medallist and also a former world record holder in the F44 discus. He was also a team captain for Great Britain at the recent World Para Athletics Championships held in London this summer.
His team for the Celebrity Tri will include Samantha Shaw, an asbestos-related disease lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge office, and amputee golfer Mike Gays.
The Superhero Series is aimed at promoting participation in disability sport and encouraging people from all walks of life to find their ‘inner superhero’ and work towards a major goal.
Stuart Henderson, a Partner and serious injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said:
Dan Greaves, who is from Leicestershire, added: “Sport has played such an important role in my life and the Superhero Series is a fantastic way to promote the benefits that physical activity can have for everyone.
“I am delighted to lend my support to this event and am looking forward to tackling this challenge with the rest of the team.”
Irwin Mitchell has a long and proud history of supporting disability sport, whether it is through the Don’t Quit Do It campaign or its work as a sponsor of the Portsmouth Amputees football team. The national law firm is also presently encouraging people to lend their support to disability sport with its Be Part Of It initiative, with the organisation donating £1 to charity for every pledge it receives.
