Serious Injury Lawyers Assisting Man Seriously Injured When Hit By Adamec’s Vehicle
A man who was left with serious leg injuries when he and his friend were struck by a vehicle as they changed a flat tyre in Newmarket has spoken of his relief after the driver was sentenced to 40 months in prison and given a 5-year driving ban.
Joey Abbs and his friend Shaun Whiter were struck by a vehicle driven by Jan Adamec in July 2015, leaving Joey with serious leg injuries and leading to the amputation of Shaun’s legs.
Adamec, from Haverhill, admitted two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, in a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court in August. He has now been jailed and given a driving ban.
Joey instructed expert serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate the incident and they are now working to provide him with the funds he will require to access rehabilitation and physiotherapy to help him overcome his injuries.
Expert Opinion
"This is an incredibly sad case in which the careless actions of a driver left two young men with serious and life-changing injuries.
"Joey is still coming to terms with his injuries and the long road to recovery he now faces. The guilty plea entered by the driver spared Joey and Shaun the stress and anxiety of a trial and the sentence handed down today has helped him draw a line under what has been a very difficult year.
“We are working with Joey to help him overcome his injuries in the best way he can and will be looking to help him access funds he will require for his ongoing therapy and recovery.” Ruth Booy - Partner
