Irwin Mitchell London Head Of Planning Highlights ‘Tension’ Between London Mayor’s Commitment To Protected Land And Affordable Housing Plans
Martha Grekos, Partner and London Head of Planning at law firm Irwin Mitchell says that there is ‘tension’ between the London Mayor’s commitment to protecting the greenbelt and his affordable housing proposals.
Sadiq Khan made his pledge to oppose building on the city's greenbelt on Tuesday and revealed he’d requested his planning officers ensure his view is reflected in all planning decisions made by the Greater London Authority.
The mayor joined members of the Woodland Trust for an event to mark London Tree Week outside City Hall and said: "It is vitally important we protect our city's precious green spaces and that must include opposing building on the greenbelt. I've now met with my team of planners to make absolutely clear that this must stay at the forefront of planning decisions.”
