Launch of new career development programme for in-house counsel
National law firm Irwin Mitchell and Winmark are today launching NextGen, a career development programme and peer to peer network aimed at mid to senior level in-house counsel.
NextGen will consist of quarterly events run under the Chatham House rule helping in-house counsel move into leadership roles.
The launch event takes place today at Irwin Mitchell’s London offices on the topic of “Lawyers as commercial leaders.”
It will be facilitated by Tom Kilroy, former GC, then acting CEO and now Chief of Staff at Misys and will be chaired by James Stebbing, Legal Counsel at Rugby Football Union and member of the NextGen advisory panel. Tom will share his views on what being a commercial leader means for an in-house lawyer.
Irwin Mitchell and Winmark announced their decision to work together to provide support for NextGen last year following the demand for such a forum from CLO members, Irwin Mitchell’s clients and the wider in-house community. NextGen will be guided by an advisory panel comprised of General and Senior Counsel from BBC Worldwide, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, JLL, KPMG, Microsoft, The Post Office, RFU, Wells Fargo and Wolseley.
