Expert Asbestos-related Disease Lawyers At Irwin Mitchell Seek Former Workers To Help With Lung Cancer Case
The widow of a man who died from asbestos-related lung cancer is appealing to former colleagues to come forward and provide any information which will support her search for answers regarding his death.
William Terence Rogers - known as Terry - was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2012 and died on April 10, 2014, aged 67.
His wife Valerie has now instructed expert asbestos-related disease lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate whether Terry’s death could be linked to his work in the storerooms at Stockton-On-Tees plant, ICI Billingham.
Asbestos-related diseases, including asbestos-related cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma, can develop decades after initial exposure to the toxic dust.
Terry worked as a storekeeper at the chemical works from 1961 until 1996 when he was made redundant.
Valerie, from Stockton-On-Tees, said: “He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and I just want to know what happened to him.
“Before he died, I remember him telling me how he moved sheets of asbestos around the stores, so I just want to find out more from anyone who was working for ICI at the Billingham plant at the time.
“Nothing will bring Terry back to us, but it’s important that we have answers about how he died.”
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause several types of lung disease including asbestosis and mesothelioma, with a strong link to lung cancer, too.
Expert Opinion
“Many people have been exposed to harmful asbestos fibres through working in the construction or manufacturing industry only to be diagnosed with serious illnesses many years later.
“Sadly, because the illness is linked to exposure to asbestos decades ago it can sometimes be quite difficult to find information on the conditions the victims were working in.
“In Terry’s case, he worked at ICI Billingham for more than 30 years so there must be many people who also worked there who remember Terry and can help his family with the answers they so desperately need.” Roger Maddocks - Partner
