Irwin Mitchell Working With Burning Nights To Launch Support Group
National law firm Irwin Mitchell have teamed up with Burning Nights CRPS Support to raise awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and set up a support group to help people dealing with the condition.
On Monday 23 November Manchester Town Hall will be lit up in a striking shade of orange to raise awareness of CRPS which is relatively unknown in the UK despite it affecting thousands of people in the UK and around the world.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is often diagnosed after an injury, surgery or a medical condition and can cause a person to experience persistent severe and debilitating pain. Treatment for CRPS is most effective when started early and can lead to a significant improve and in some cases remission.
Burning Nights is a newly launched support group which aims to improve the quality of life for sufferers, carers, families and friends and increase knowledge of the condition.
November is CRPS awareness month and Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office has been busy working with Burning Nights to launch a pilot support group in the city centre.
In America there is far greater awareness of the condition and American state infrastructure take part in ‘Color The World Orange’; an annual event held the first Monday of November.
When the Manchester Town Hall changes on Monday it will be the first building in the UK to switch to orange to support CRPS awareness month.
Personal Injury lawyer Altaf Patel from Irwin Mitchell has been working with Burning Nights and feels it is vital that more people are made aware of the condition and the support available.
“A number of our clients go on to contract CRPS and we’ve seen the difficulties that arise with dealing with this condition so soon after a serious health scare.
“Unfortunately, it is far from a well-known condition in the UK and we are working to change this so people understand their diagnosis and the possible treatment.
“We’re delighted to be able to work with Burning Nights to raise awareness and launch a pilot support group to give people the opportunity to talk about what they’re going through, share stories and learn more about living with the condition.”
Victoria Abbott-Fleming founder of Burning Nights knows how important it is to raise awareness and how much work needs to be done. She said “Our charity has only recently launched and we know the job we have on our hands to raise awareness of CRPS in the UK.
“The best way to treat the condition is through early diagnoses and this is more likely to happen if people are aware of CRPS, the symptoms and the support on offer.
“Irwin Mitchell have been a huge help and the support group is just what we need to help raise awareness of the condition. If you’re in Manchester on Monday look out for a bright looking town hall and help us spread the message during our awareness month.”
Dates for the drop in will be confirmed shortly. For more information please contact Altaf.Patel@irwinmitchell.com
