Event Raising Money For The Child Brain Injury Trust
Specialist serious injury lawyers at national law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office have organised a charity walk which will see 140 people take on treks around the Peak District to raise vital funds for the Child Brain Injury Trust.
The walk on October 17th will see the entrants start at the picturesque village of Edale, where they will have the choice of tackling three different routes of 8km, 15km and 30km.
The charity trek is to raise funds for CBIT, which supports children who have suffered brain injuries as a result of an accident, an illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, a stroke or a brain tumour.
Caroline Mitchell, a serious injury specialist from Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office who has been involved in organising the event, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people supporting the walk and raising money for a charity that provides crucial support to children and families after a life changing brain injury.
“We see from our clients just how much support and care is needed, not only for the injured casualty, but the friends and family who are dealing with such a dramatic change. There are over 50 Irwin Mitchell staff talking part on the day which is a great testament to the firm’s commitment to charitable causes and helping local communities and national projects.
“Edale has some amazing scenery so all we need now is some nice weather to enable us to appreciate the views.”
Pie and Peas will be served after the walk which is being provided by Pukka Pies in Leicester and means that a greater proportion of the entrance fee will go straight to CBIT.
CBIT supports young people, their families and professionals and helps them come to terms with what has happened and how to deal with uncertainty that the future may hold.
Emily Honey, Fundraising Officer at CBIT, said: "Irwin Mitchell has supported the Child Brain Injury Trust for a long time and we are very grateful for their on-going help.
“They have organised this sponsored walk in Edale to raise much needed funds and it is excellent to see so many volunteers turning out to support the charity.”
Although it is too late to register for the walk, a donation can still be made on the Just Giving page.
