Family Law Expert Recognised by National Newspaper

Divorce specialist, Ros Bever, who secured a landmark ruling at the Supreme Court earlier this year, has been named ‘Lawyer of the Week’ by The Times.

Ros is a partner at national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, and she heads up the family law team in their Manchester office.

The recognition comes just a month after Ros successfully represented two ex-wives to bring in a unanimous ruling at the Supreme Court for the original financial settlements to be set aside because both husbands' had been dishonest about their assets in divorce proceedings.

The cases made history and gained over 200 media hits, including coverage in all of the national newspapers and from the major broadcaster.

Married Ros, who credits her family for their support, claims the recent Supreme Court hearing was one of the most “amazing and unforgettable” moments of her career so far.

The mother-of-three, who has over 16 years’ experience in family litigation, told The Times that after a brief career in construction she decided that steel toe-capped boots and hard hats were not for her and made the switch to law.

In her profile she says she loves her job and “cannot imagine doing anything else.”

Asked to offer some career advice Ros says: “Put the client first, believe in them and listen to them; their insights are often crucial to the outcome of the case.

“There must be easier ways to make money but there is no such thing as a boring day if you choose the right field of law.”
