Legal Experts Lend Support To Creation Of Sculpture
Specialist lawyers have described the imminent unveiling of a memorial to all of those who have died as a result of asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma as a “vital tribute and tragic reminder” of the many lives affected by exposure to the deadly material.
The International Asbestos Memorial – The Known and Unknown, which has been designed by artist Jephson Robb, is set to be unveiled at a ceremony in Clydebank this weekend.
According to reports, the sculpture will include five marble blocks which will include the names of more than 500 victims of asbestos-related disease both in Scotland and further afield.
The site of the memorial, which was commissioned by Clydebank Asbestos Group, was chosen due to the town’s longstanding reputation for heavy industry, and in particular shipbuilding.
Specialist asbestos lawyers at Irwin Mitchell who represent victims of mesothelioma and other related conditions from across the UK are among those who contributed towards the creation of the memorial.
