Royston Ruck, 74, now living in Rhyl, North Wales, was completely shocked when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma in October 2014.
He believes that he was exposed to asbestos during his time working as an assembly worker for Gloucester Railway and Carriage Builders in 1961 and 1962 and further when working as a machine operator for Rank Xerox, at their Mitcheldean factory in Gloucestershire from 1962 until 1982/83.
Mr Ruck, backed by his legal team at Irwin Mitchell, is now appealing for his former workmates to come forward with information about the working conditions at Gloucester Railway and Carriage Builders and Rank Xerox, and any information about his exposure to asbestos.
Katrina London, a specialist asbestos-related disease lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office representing Mr Ruck said:
Royston said: “I was absolutely shell-shocked when I was diagnosed with mesothelioma as I’ve always been fit and independent. I was angry to find out that the disease has been caused by my exposure to asbestos during my working life.
“I am extremely concerned about what the future holds and the time I will miss with my children and grandchildren. I hope that my former workmates at Gloucester Railway and Carriage Builders and Rank Xerox will come forward with the information my legal team at Irwin Mitchell needs.”
