Council’s Move Also Comes Following Damning CQC Report
Isle of Wight Council has moved residents from the Holmdale House Care Home in Ryde, following news that the police has begun an inquiry into five deaths at the site and the release of a damning Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.
According to reports, the council made arrangements for the three remaining residents as Hampshire Police confirmed it was looking into questions raised regarding care standards.
The CQC’s report into the home found numerous failings including instances when medicine was not given in a timely manner and trained staff were not always available.
Martin Elliott, head of adult social care and community wellbeing at Isle of Wight Council, said: "We would like to offer our condolences to the relatives of those residents who have recently passed away."
A spokesman for Holmdale House said: ''The staff and management are working very hard to rectify the points raised in the CQC report and have made progress with the improvements.”
