Lochs and Glens Holidays Coach Left Road And Overturned
Police in Scotland have launched an investigation after a coach carrying 51 people left the road and overturned at the Rest and Be Thankful in Argyll.
The coach is thought to have been blown off the A83 in high winds, with 23 people taken to three hospitals in the area, with the most seriously injured airlifted to by a Royal Navy helicopter from Lossiemouth. A further 20 people described as “walking wounded”.
It overturned on a grass verged and slid down and embankment, coming to a rest close to Loch Restil.
The coach was operated by Lochs and Glens Holidays and was due to stop in Argyll. The road was closed following the incident, which took place at around 2:10pm yesterday (March 27).
Chief Inspector Fraser Candlish said: "This has clearly been a terrifying experience for all of those involved and officers have been working closely with our partners to provide support to those effected and ensure everyone's safety.
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, however early indications would suggest that the high winds may have been a factor."
