Legal Experts React As Support Group Speaks Out
Asbestos-related disease lawyers in the South West have urged that public safety must be the priority after concerns were raised regarding the risk of asbestos related to the disused Quality Hotel in Plymouth.
The Plymouth Herald reports that the Mesothelioma and Asbestos Awareness Plymouth and South West (MAAPS) support group has warned that asbestos could be the “greatest danger” to anyone entering the building on the Hoe.
The body also welcomed Plymouth City Council’s decision to take action against the owner of the land where the hotel sits after the body failed to respond to a land notice prior to the deadline.
A spokeswoman added: “We would reiterate the advice previously given by fire fighters, that people should not enter the building on any account.”

Reacting to the news, specialist asbestos-related disease lawyers at Irwin Mitchell backed the group’s view.
