

Legal Experts React To Charity Warnings
Specialist medical negligence lawyers have urged the Government and NHS to work together to provide better care to those suffering with diabetes, after new research highlighted that hundreds of thousands of Britons need amputations and suffer heart attacks and strokes because of complications caused by the disease.
The study by Diabetes UK found that in 2012/13 there were 200,000 cases of people with diabetes in England and Wales suffering devastating complications because of the disease.
With the figures of those with diabetes set to rise, the charity has urged that the Government and NHS begin making improvements to the care for those dealing with the disease.
According to Barbara Young, chief executive of Diabetes UK, “the NHS must get better at giving people with diabetes the education they need to take control of their condition”.
She added: "With the numbers of people with diabetes rising at an alarming rate, it is vital that the Government and the NHS act urgently to end the postcode lottery of diabetes care and ensure that all people living with diabetes get the support and care they need to live long healthy lives”.
