More Than 100 In Total Believed To Be Affected By Suspected Norovirus
Lawyers who specialise in helping victims of illness outbreaks in the UK and abroad to gain vital financial support following such incidents have now been instructed by people affected by the problems linked to Toby Carvery’s Exeter Arms pub.
The pub in Middlemoor, Exeter was reportedly closed voluntarily following a visit by environmental health officials earlier this week, following reports that a number of people have suffered gastric illness symptoms after visiting the site.
According to reports, the site was given a steam clean on April 1st after staff learnt of one customer being ill with norovirus. The restaurant then re-opened and it is thought others then fell ill after visiting the pub across the Easter weekend.
Now, Irwin Mitchell’s specialist illness lawyers have commenced their own investigations into the problems after been asked to represent several people affected. The team has vast experience helping those affected by illness in the UK and abroad to gain access to vital support to cover loss of earnings and other costs they have suffered as a result of outbreaks.
They notably represent victims of problems linked to the Woks Cooking takeaway in Kirkby, Liverpool last year, and more than 30 others affected by an outbreak of Salmonella linked to the Real China restaurant in Eastleigh in 2014.

Expert Opinion
“We have now heard first-hand accounts of the issues which people have faced after falling ill following visits to this pub and are now making our own enquiries to learn more about these problems.
“Through our work, we have seen numerous cases in which people have been forced to take time off work or faced further disruption in their lives as a result of illness outbreaks, as well as how such issues can leave victims with long-term health complaints.
“With this in mind, it is vital that such issues are not underestimated and, as part of our work, we’d be keen to hear from anyone else affected by the problems.
“By developing a full understanding of the issue, hopefully steps can be taken to discover whether anything further could be done to prevent such an outbreak from ever happening again.” Amandeep Dhillon - Partner
