New DfT Figures Reveal 4% Rise In Fatalities And Serious Injuries
Lawyers who specialise in helping injured victims and the families of those killed in road traffic collisions gain support following such incidents have called for swift action after new figures revealed the number of people fatally or seriously injured on UK roads rose by four per cent in the year to June 2014.
Statistics from the Department for Transport revealed that 24,580 people were killed or seriously injured across the 12-month period analysed, with the number of fatalities alone increasing by three per cent to 1,760.
Of particular concern were the findings that the number of cyclists and motorcyclists killed or seriously injured significantly increased by 10 per cent (to 3,530) and seven per cent (to 5,510) across the year respectively.
Following the release of the figures, Irwin Mitchell’s specialist serious injury lawyers are calling on the Government and road safety authorities to work more closely with road users than ever before to determine what can be done to ensure further increases are not seen in the coming years.
The experts specialise in helping both injured victims and the families of those killed in road traffic collisions to gain answers and access to vital financial support following such incidents.
