Irwin Mitchell Bristol Will Support Those Affected By Dementia
A team of Bristol lawyers are pulling on their running shoes to take part in an annual race to help raise vital funds for a Dementia charity in the city.
Staff from Irwin Mitchell including Jonathan Peacock, Regional Managing Partner, James Davies, Partner and serious injury specialist, Eleri Davies and Georgina Ife, both trainee solicitors in the Bristol office are limbering up to run the city’s annual 10K run which takes place on Sunday 11 May starting off at the historic harbourside.
Earlier this year, Irwin Mitchell named BRACE their Charity of the Year for 2014, and all funds raised by the law firm will go towards research into Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Its aim is to understand more about the causes of dementia, helping medical science find ways to diagnose it earlier and more accurately in order to develop more effective treatments.
The Charity of the Year initiative is part of the work of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation, an independent, registered charity set up by the partners and employees of Irwin Mitchell. The Foundation last year reached a remarkable milestone, having donated more than £1m to worthy causes since its formation in 1997.
Mark Poarch, from BRACE, said: “We are delighted that Irwin Mitchell is continuing to support us throughout the year with their fundraising events.
“Fundraising is a great way for staff to get together to achieve a united goal and it demonstrates the positive impact businesses can have on their local community, supporting the world leading Bristol-based dementia research and thereby helping people everywhere who may one day develop dementia.”
