Lawyers Seeking To help With Rehabilitation and Support For 15-Year Old Girl
The parents of a 15-year-old girl left suffering serious injuries to her leg when she was hit by a van in Oldham on Christmas eve last year are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward who may assist in securing help with their daughter’s recovery and rehabilitation.
Chloe Wheatcroft was walking from her house on Fir Lane towards a bus stop on Rochdale Road at around 11.50am on 24 December 2013 to catch a bus to Rochdale to meet her friend to do some last minute Christmas shopping.
As Chloe was crossing Rochdale Road (towards Royton town centre), a collision occurred with a blue master Renault van just opposite a Bethesda Church. As a result of the collision Chloe has been left with severe fractures to her leg and has required two operations at the Manchester Children’s Hospital. She will now need specialist rehabilitation and treatment.
The family has instructed specialist serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to help with her recovery and together they are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the road traffic accident to help with their investigations.
Richard Biggs, an expert injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office representing the family said:
Expert Opinion
As a result of this tragic accident Chloe has suffered a very serious injury to her leg and we are now seeking information from anyone who witnesses the accident so that we can try and help her access the necessary rehabilitation and support she needs to aid her recovery.
“We are looking to speak to anyone who was driving along Rochdale Road at the time of this accident who may have seen the collision or the vehicle involved.
“We understand that Chloe was lifted up off the road by a man driving a Virgin Media van and we believe he may have witnessed this accident. Chloe was also carried to a door step of a nearby house on Rochdale Road while we understand that a number of people jumped out of their cars to assist her.
“We have been told that a lady called Danielle who was driving her car along Rochdale Road witnessed this accident and sat with Chloe until her mother and ambulance arrived. We would like to speak to Danielle or anyone who has any information about the incident as it may help Chloe access the specialist help and rehabilitation support she now needs.” Richard Biggs - Partner
Chloe’s mother, Dorothy, said: “Receiving a phone call that your daughter has been involved in a serious accident and that she needs an ambulance to take her to hospital was just horrifying.
“Luckily Chloe survived the incident but she has suffered very serious injuries to her leg and faces a long recovery and rehabilitation battle. She is in constant pain and discomfort. To ensure she gets the best support possible we need help from people who may have seen the incident.
“We are asking anyone who thinks they may be able to help to get in touch with our legal team at Irwin Mitchell as even the smallest snippet of information may help our daughter.”
Anyone who is able to provide information about the accident is asked to contact Richard Biggs at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors on 0161 838 3092 or email Richard.biggs@irwinmitchell.com.
