Ten Others Checked By Medical Experts Following Incident

A young man suffered a fractured ankle and ten others were check for injuries after fairground ride reportedly collapsed at a funfair in St Neots on Friday (May 31st).

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is expected to launch an investigation into the incident, which occurred as 25 people were onboard the ride believed to be known as The X Scream.

East of England Ambulance Service said that “one young male” was taken to hospital with injuries from the incident, while others were checked over for injuries at the scene of the problems.

“Through our work in similar cases, including an incident when a youngster was hurt at a theme park in Motherwell, we understand the physical and psychological injuries which can be caused by such incidents and both the victims and their families will be keen for answers over this.

“With summer well and truly on the way, it is of course the season for fairs and trips to theme parks. However, this in turn means that it is vital that owners and operators of rides have carried out all necessary checks and tests on all of their attractions to ensure they are safe for use.

“It is vital that any lessons learned from this case are considered carefully by all fairground operators to ensure the same circumstances are not seen again.”
