Irwin Mitchell Help Family in Their Battle for Answers

An inquest to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 61-year-old woman suffering from mental health issues will take place at Doncaster Coroner’s Court this week.

Jane Hallam was voluntarily admitted to the psychiatric ward at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield on the 6th of April 2011 after telling her GP and a friend that she planned to commit suicide.

The mum-of-two, from Woodhouse Mill in Sheffield, was discharged into the care of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHT), run by Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, on the 27th of April. She was found dead at her home on the 17th of May.

Medical lawyers at Irwin Mitchell are representing Jane’s son Stephan and her sister-in-law and brother Pauline and Paul Hallam at the hearing, which is due to take place between the 17th and 19th of July 2013.

“They hope the inquest will provide answers to some of the many questions they have about the events surrounding Jane’s death in May 2011 and concerns they raised to medical staff at the time.”
