IM in the community
On 1 June 2013 at the Blue Planet Aquarium, Cheshire, 12 good men and women from Irwin Mitchell Leeds office were literally in at the deep end swimming with Sharks!
The brave (or foolhardy) team (made up of Sarah Coles, Carolyn Oade, Nigel Bolton, Matt Brown, Andrew Walker, James Hemming, Tarlo Supri, Dean Bestall, Liam Riley, Scott Beckett, Fay Gould and Georgina Sheldon) took part in a sponsored shark dive at the Aquarium to raise funds for KIDS, a national charity which supports families with disabled children. The charity has regional branches and this particular daredevil event was to raise much needed funds for the Kids branch in Hull and Humberside.
Sarah Coles, Associate Solicitor and Medical Law Specialist came up with the hair brain idea having developed close connections with the KIDs team in Hull. Following a fire walk last year, Sarah said that diving with sharks seemed the next logical step!
The team hope to raise over £2000 which will go towards KIDS in Hull’s numerous projects including parenting advice, benefits advice, statementing and school advice. KIDS in Hull alone currently support over 1000 families. The charities vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations and their right to an inclusive community which supports them and their families. The charity predominantly relies on donations and grants with some local authority provision as well.
KIDS Hull is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and Irwin Mitchell is happy to be supporting such a fantastic charity, even if it means risking their lives.
