Deal Sees Lhasa Limited Move Into New Head Office
The Leeds office of national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has advised on the purchase of Granary Wharf House by educational charity Lhasa Limited.
The three-storey purpose built 20,805 sq ft offices were previously occupied by the Medical Protection Society (MPS), which relocated to Victoria Place earlier this year as part of its continued expansion.
Lhasa Limited is a not-for-profit organisation and educational charity. It facilitates collaborative data sharing projects in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and chemistry-related industries.
David Watson of Lhasa Limited said: "We’re really pleased with our new home, and are looking forward to making a smooth transition to the new space. It’s a fantastic building which will allow us to grow and evolve our research and development in support of our members by providing us with the necessary space."
John Flathers, Head of real estate at the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell, said:
Expert Opinion
I’m delighted to have advised Lhasa on its move to its new head office. The location on the city’s South Bank provides the organisation with an ideal base in an area undergoing major investment and which already has excellent connectivity.” John Flathers - Partner
Adam Varley, Head of Office Agency at LSH’s Leeds office, said: "We had a great deal of interest in Granary Wharf House, which is understandable given the scarcity of freehold, self contained buildings in the city centre.
"The property also has the advantage of designated parking spaces, which was a major appeal and benefit to the occupier. Lhasa Limited’s acquisition of Granary Wharf House is a great example of how confidence is returning to the office market, both in Leeds and throughout the wider Yorkshire area.
"However, we have a challenge to maintain this momentum, as there is a considerable shortage of Grade A office space."
