Irwin Mitchell Supports Specialist College Open Day
Staff at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office are supporting Hereward’s College Open day at the end of this month to raise awareness of the higher education options available to disabled youngsters.
Hereward College is a specialist, residential college of further education in Coventry which welcomes all students including those with diverse and complex support requirements, as well as residential students, day disabled and non disabled students.
It is holding an open day on 31 October to welcome local groups and organisations to network and look round the facilities and specialist support services the college offers to help students reach their goals, such as speech therapy, counselling, specially adapted living accommodation and physiotherapy.
The event is open to everyone including disability organisations, individuals working in the disability industry, care providers, care enablers, assistive technology users/providers, specialist schools representatives and individuals looking for training in social care including apprenticeships.
Sara Burns, a Partner and medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell said: “The services Hereward College provides to disabled youngsters are invaluable and we’re delighted to be involved with them and show our support for the work they do.
“Many of our clients suffer learning difficulties and need specialist one-on-one rehabilitation and support after they have been the victim of medical negligence or serious injury and we share a common goal with Hereward to help these people reach their full potential.
“Irwin Mitchell is committed to being a socially responsible organisation and encourages its staff to take part in a variety of projects as part of a comprehensive community programme, that includes raising attainment in schools, supporting vulnerable groups and offering pro bono support to those who need it the most.”
Anyone is welcome to drop into the event between 12 and 4pm. To register, or for more information email tracey.mcdermott@hereward.ac.uk or call 02476 426194.
