Irwin Mitchell’s Relay Team Finish As Highest Placed Law Firm

Three lawyers from Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office are celebrating after stepping out from behind their desks to record an impressive top six finish in their category at a national triathlon event involving around 150 teams from across the UK.

David Goy and Thomas Hall from the firm’s Real Estate team and Charlotte Parnham of its Commercial Litigation team finished sixth in the mixed relay at the Jones Lang LaSalle Property Triathlon on May 25th, making Irwin Mitchell the highest placed law firm in the category.

The team’s overall time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 40 seconds meant they finished 26th overall in the relay competition at Dorney Lake, Eton, which was co-sponsored by industry publication Property Week and saw entry donations given to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Two other teams from the firm’s London office also participated in the event.

Irwin Mitchell’s involvement in the event reflects the firm’s long-standing participation in sporting and fundraising activities up and down the country. The event also took place just days before runners from the firm were involved in the 2012 SIG Insulations Sheffield Half Marathon’s Corporate Team Challenge.

David Goy, who undertook the gruelling cycling leg at the Jones Lang LaSalle Property Triathlon, said: “The legal world can be incredibly competitive, but it is great now and then to be able to make use of that attitude not only to take on a big physical challenge but also to raise money for charity.

“At Irwin Mitchell we place an emphasis on community and charity and are very proud of our fundraising efforts on both a local and national level.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the finish considering the size of the event and teams coming from far and wide to participate. Each of us played our parts, with Charlotte starting our effort off brilliantly in the swimming before I took over with the cycling and Thomas then finished up with the running.

“It might take us a while to recover from the aches and pains but it was absolutely worth it. The aim now hopefully will be to record an even better finish next time around.”
