Lawyers Join In Fundraising
May saw the national Action for Brain Injury Week, organised by Brain Injury charity Headway, inspire Headway branches across the country to organise activities to raise awareness of brain injury and its effects. As well as highlighting the issues surrounding brain injury, the week also encourages local businesses and groups to engage in fundraising activities.
Friday 18th May of that week was ‘Hats for Headway’, a fun initiative to get people all over the country joining in fundraising activities. Irwin Mitchell’s Bristol office took part, holding a wacky hat competition. Several of the staff brought in hats with some creating their own custom hat, with themes including Dr Seuss’s ‘Cat and in Hat’ and retro sweets with favourites such as Sherbet Foundations and Dib-Dabs. Personal Assistant June Devine, from the Family law team, who was the Cat in the Hat complete with face paint, was the winner.
Bristol raised £30 for Headway Bristol, which will go towards buying more 'Quick Reads’ which are bite sized books ideal for Headway service users who may struggle with concentration or memory problems following a brain injury. The quick reads will be added to the collection at the resource centre library, a new resource facility at The Headway Centre in Bristol, which Irwin Mitchell funded last year.
