Highly Respected Medical Law Specialist To Take Up Position
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced that it has appointed Alison Eddy as London Managing Partner.
Alison, a highly respected serious injury and medical law specialist who has been with the firm for 17 years, becomes the first female regional managing partner at Irwin Mitchell and takes over the role following the retirement of former Chairman and Senior Partner Mike Napier.
She joined Irwin Mitchell in 1995 as one of the three original founding Partners in London and the news comes as Irwin Mitchell looks to progress its growth plans for the business nationally and in London, where it has seen significant expansion in recent years across its personal and business legal services teams.
High-profile recruitment to its business services team in London has included a real estate team of 23, including six partners, led by Head of Real Estate Jon Vivian from SJ Berwin, and the appointment of Tom Flanagan as Head of Employment. The London office now employs 251 people of whom 208 are fee earners, including 32 partners.
Commenting on her appointment, Alison said, “Irwin Mitchell is a unique law firm, and is one of the few with a genuine full service offer. We pride ourselves on an open and an innovative approach and in providing clear and straightforward advice.
“The London office is a very important one for the firm and a market where we are looking to continue our growth, across our divisions. In my 17 years with Irwin Mitchell, I have seen our London office go from strength to strength and expand enormously.
“I am delighted to take on this new role leading the London office. I would of course like to pay tribute to the work Mike has done for Irwin Mitchell in London to date and I am excited about the chance to lead the office into a new era and continue the huge success we have had to date.”
In addition to her role as Regional Managing Partner, London, Alison is also Head of Irwin Mitchell’s highly regarded Clinical Negligence team in London and works with seriously injured clients, including brain injured children, to secure settlements focused on funding their future care needs and rehabilitation.
Group Chief Executive John Pickering said: “I am delighted that Alison has agreed to take on this important role for Irwin Mitchell. She has played a major part in the success of our London office to date and I am confident she will help us develop the office further in the coming years as we push forward with our strategic growth plans.”
