Firm Targets Construction and Engineering Growth
National law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has announced the latest in a series of high profile Partner appointments across its Business Legal Services team with news that construction law specialist, Julie Morrissy, is joining the firm from DLA Piper.
Based in the firm’s Sheffield office, Julie will work closely with the firm’s Real Estate team and be responsible for building and leading the development of Irwin Mitchell’s Construction practice across the North of England.
Julie, who has headed up DLA’s Engineering and Construction team in Yorkshire for the last five years, has a wide range of experience which includes dealing with both contentious and non contentious matters for major clients ranging from public sector organisations to national and international companies.
Paul Firth, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office, added: “Julie is a highly regarded construction practitioner in the North of England. It is a sector that we have been looking to develop further and Julie is therefore the ideal candidate to help us do this and build a leading construction practice across our Northern offices.”
Commenting on the move, Julie Morrissy said: “Joining Irwin Mitchell is a very exciting proposition. It is not only an innovative firm which is ideally placed to take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the current legal market place, but it has also made a clear signal of intent in relation to the growth it wants to in achieve within its business legal services team at a time when other firms are retrenching.
“Although the economy remains challenging, I’ve seen a great deal of resilience within the engineering and construction industry over the last five years and people are now more keen than ever to get new projects off the ground. From what I can see, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future.”
Julie’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior appointments at Irwin Mitchell as it drives forward its strategic growth plan for its business legal services division.
