Lawyers In Line For Europe’s Most Active Volcano
Two solicitors from law firm Irwin Mitchell will swap the Manchester drizzle for volcanic heat this October when they complete a seven-day charity trek over three of Italy’s most ferocious volcanoes.
Keith Cundall, a serious injury specialist at the law firm, and Sarah Sharples, a medical law expert, will trek across Mt Vesuvius, Mt Stromboli and, Europe’s most active volcano, Mt Etna, in an attempt to raise £5,000 for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT).
The Lymm-based charity provides disabled and disadvantaged children, and their families, with special week-long holidays and aims to help children improve their quality of life.
Keith Cundall, serious injury solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, said: “This special place is totally dependent on voluntary contributions and it costs over £800,000 each year to allow them to continue their work. We are looking to raise at least £2,500 each to help with these costs and to show our support for a fantastic cause.”
“We work with a number of children who have suffered serious injuries through our roles at Irwin Mitchell, and charity challenges like this help us to support local initiatives that provide further help for them giving them great experiences to enjoy and cherish.
“We are both excited by the prospect of trekking the volcanoes for such a brilliant charity and we are training hard to be fit for what we’re sure will be a difficult challenge. If nothing else, the sheer heat will certainly be a shock to the system for two people who work in Manchester!”
Adrian Budgen, a Partner at Irwin Mitchell and Chair of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation, said: “My colleagues continue to come up with unique and innovative challenges. This volcano trek is another fascinating idea and I’m sure it will be a great experience for Keith and Sarah. As a firm we are committed to backing positive initiatives in the communities around each of our offices, and to providing as much support as possible for those who need it.”
“We are extremely proud of all our charity efforts and this money raised from the Volcano Trek is going to a great cause that helps children across the North West.”
The trek takes place from 11-17th October and the Irwin Mitchell duo will be doing a range of fundraising activities before setting off on their Italian expedition.
