Family Of Birmingham Bin Man Look To Inquest For Answers
The heartbroken wife of a dad-of-two who was found hanged by a disused railway line after becoming severely depressed said she hopes the inquest into his death will provide answers about why he took his own life.
Wayne Grew, who worked as a Refuse Collector for Birmingham City Council, was found hanged on 4 March 2011 near Queen Elizabeth Park. He had sought help from medical staff towards the end of 2010 and into 2011 for his severe depression.
The 37-year-old left behind his distraught wife Lisa and two young children Darcy and Ruby.
An inquest into his death will be held at Birmingham Coroner’s Court by HM Deputy Coroner Sarah Ormond-Walshe on 5 and 6 July.
Speaking on behalf of Wayne’s family ahead of the inquest, Tom Fletcher, a medical law and patient rights expert from Irwin Mitchell, said: “Wayne’s death has left a wife without a husband and two small children without their father and they understandably want answers as to why he took his life.
“They hope the inquest will provide information about this so they can begin to come to terms with his death and try and rebuild their lives.”
