Law Firm Help Spread Festive Cheer With Charity Cash For Kids
There’s just a week to go until Christmas and staff at law firm Irwin Mitchell are doing their bit to ensure as many children in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire wake up to a special gift under the tree on Christmas day.
Staff at Irwin Mitchell’s Leeds office are supporting the Cash For Kids appeal Mission Christmas, which aims to provide presents for thousands of children, from babies to teenagers throughout the region who have special needs, are disabled, have life limiting illnesses or have been abused and neglected. Without the help of Cash for Kids and its supporters, these children would not be getting any presents this Christmas.
The law firm’s staff have donated over several hundreds of pounds worth of toys for all ages to the appeal, which is run by radio stations Viking FM & Magic 1161.
Sarah Coles, an associate solicitor at Irwin Mitchell’s medical law team in Leeds, said: “Cash For Kids is a charity which is close to all our hearts at Irwin Mitchell because we see how dedicated it’s volunteers are to making sure as many children in the region as possible have a gift to unwrap at Christmas.
“We work with many children every day at Irwin Mitchell and see the devastating consequences illness and injury can have on the child and their families. I think we all often take for granted that our families have lots of presents to open at Christmas but it’s so saddening to hear that not every child will be in a similar position and we wanted to help in anyway we could.
“This is our way of giving something back to the community and to help put a smile on the faces of those children.”
Cuddly toys, board games, Lego, dolls and toy cars were amongst the 100’s of presents donated to the charity appeal by kind-hearted staff at the law firm.
Viking FM and Magic FM are hoping to beat last year’s record breaking total of £447,000 raised for more than 10,000 youngsters in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
Rebekah Shaw, an account manager for Cash For Kids, said: “Last year, thanks to the generosity of local fund raisers we managed to put a smile on more children’s faces at Christmas than ever before. But we are hoping to beat the £447,000 worth of gifts we raised in 2011 this year and thanks to companies like Irwin Mitchell I’m confident that we can really make a difference yet again.
“Our mission is simple – to ensure no child in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire wakes up to an empty stocking on Christmas day. We are thrilled with all the toys Irwin Mitchell staff have collected and we know the children who receive them will be too.”
