Work At Prestigious Development Starts in 2013
The real estate team at law firm, Irwin Mitchell, in Sheffield has advised Sheffield Hallam University on the sale of its land off Psalter Lane to Bellway Homes.
The development, which has been named Bluecoats, is due to launch early in 2013 and will comprise 62 homes including a selection of new build and refurbished two bedroom apartments, three bedroom town houses, and four, five and six bedroom detached homes. The former school house is being converted into two bedroom apartments and duplex apartments.
Kevin Docherty, Real Estate Partner at Irwin Mitchell Sheffield who advised Sheffield Hallam on the deal for the site over a number of years, said: "This is another positive for the University and again Irwin Mitchell is very pleased to have worked this transaction through to a successful conclusion for all key stakeholders."
In bringing the site forward for development, Sheffield Hallam University undertook extensive local consultation to ensure the development responded to local stakeholder wishes.
Mark Swales Director of Estates and Facilities, said: "Psalter Lane will always be an important part of Sheffield Hallam's history and we are glad to have brought the sale to fruition. Moving forward we are now able to concentrate on investment and development in our campuses at City and Collegiate. This includes a £95 million investment over the next three years."
Ross Clarkson, Bellway’s Sales Director, said: “Bluecoats will be a prestigious development and an asset to the local housing market and we expect the new homes to generate considerable interest.”
Bellway have confirmed that they anticipate opening their sales office in February with a show home on-site by May 2013.
