Panel Appointment Boosts Leisure Team
The Manchester office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has been appointed to carry out property litigation work on behalf of Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company - the pub division of Heineken UK.
The appointment will see the firm’s commercial litigation team act for the business across England and Wales on all aspects of dispute resolution work affecting Heineken’s pub estate and Landlord & Tenant practice and procedures.
Julien Luke, Commercial Litigation Partner within Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office, said: “This is a significant win for the Manchester office and once again highlights the ability within Irwin Mitchell’s commercial litigation team to attract and handle complex legal briefs for large, internationally recognised organisations.”
Commenting on the decision to appoint Irwin Mitchell, John Gilbert, Head of Estates at Heineken UK, added: “The Independent Free Trade division of Heineken UK has used Irwin Mitchell for many years and so using Irwin Mitchell for Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company work is a natural progression for the business. We are looking forward to developing a strong working relationship.”
Heineken UK was formed in 2008 when Heineken’s parent company acquired the UK business of Scottish & Newcastle PLC and integrated it with Heineken’s existing brewing operation in the UK. The organisation employs around 2,300 people and manages around 1,300 pubs.
In addition to Heineken UK, Irwin Mitchell's Manchester office boasts clients including E-On and the Bank of America.
