Child And Adult Fatally Injured In Incidents Over The Weekend
Police in Scotland have appealed for witnesses in relation to two fatal road traffic collisions which occurred over the weekend.
Officers in Strathclyde are investigating after a 12-year-old boy was killed in a crash on the northbound carriageway of the Erskine Bridge on Sunday (October 2nd). No other cars were involved in the incident, while the female driver was hospitalised for treatment on her injuries.
In addition, Tayside Police have revealed that 66-year-old businessman David Murray was killed in a separate crash on the A94 near Meigle, Perthshire on Friday.
Experts at Irwin Mitchell act for victims from across the UK who have suffered serious injuries in car crashes, as well as the families of those who have been fatally injured in such incidents.
Elaine Russell, a specialist in such cases who is based at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office, said: “These are undoubtedly terrible incidents and we hope that the police are able to provide a full picture on what happened in both cases.
“As these crashes highlight, collisions can have devastating consequences and we hope that every effort can be made to improve road safety in both regions.
“It is massive concern that these two fatal incidents are just the latest in a string of crashes seen on Scotland’s road in 2011, so we hope that authorities are able to take every possible step to ensure that as much as possible is done to prevent similar problems in the future.”
