Restrictions 'In Place To Prevent Spread'
Illness specialists at Irwin Mitchell have urged authorities to work quickly to prevent the spread of a reported norovirus outbreak at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Officials at the hospital have put restrictions in place in an effort to the control the illness, with the family and friends of patients being treated at the site being told to not visit while they work to tackle the bug.
According to reports from the BBC, the measures being taken are expected to be in force until Monday (November 14th).
Irwin Mitchell’s specialist illness team represent people who have suffered serious illness in both the UK and abroad, including a huge number who have suffered long-term health problems after suffering from norovirus.
Suki Chhokar, an expert at the firm’s Birmingham office, said: “Through our work we’ve seen the major impact that norovirus can have on sufferers, who have often been left with symptoms and conditions from which they never fully recover as a result of another party’s negligence.
“Considering just how severe the illness can be, it is welcome news to see officials at the hospital taking steps to reduce the spread and prevent further people from being affected.
“However, the friends and relatives of all patients staying at the hospital will undoubtedly be demanding answers over how this outbreak came to occur, as well as what can be done to stop the same problems from occurring again.
“We hope that the hospital and health authorities in Gloucestershire are able to fully investigate this outbreak and prevent further problems in the future.”
