Specialist Offers Advice On Preparing For The Future
People who are preparing Wills should pay special attention to who they choose to select to carry out their wishes when they have passed away, a will disputes specialist at Irwin Mitchell has suggested.
Louise Sykes, Partner and specialist in the firm’s Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team, said that those writing a Will need to think carefully when picking an executor.
She made the comments in an article for the Daily Telegraph, where she also offers advice on a range of other issues related to preparing a clear Will that determines the preferred way of dividing assets between loved ones.
Irwin Mitchell’s Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team represent clients who have launched claims in order to contest the terms of a will or the way in which the wishes in the document have been carried out.
Discussing the selection of an executor, Louise told the newspaper: “Professionals, including solicitors and banks are often appointed, but whoever is chosen should be someone who is trustworthy, responsible and who understands the issues involved.
“The importance of properly fulfilling the role of executor cannot be underestimated, as the terms outlined in the Will are duties that need to be complied with by law.”
