Expert Backs Free Seminar For Construction Firms
A workplace injury specialist at Irwin Mitchell has backed a free event being held in Inverness to promote the importance of health and safety to companies.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is holding the half-day seminar at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to offer information to small and medium-sized construction firms on protecting staff from potential risks.
It is hoped the event on May 24th will help companies to reduce the number of work accidents and subsequent cases of injury and illness in the Scottish building sector every year.
Workplace injury experts at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office have welcomed the announcement of the event.
Elaine Russell, a Partner and specialist based at the office, said: “The construction industry is rightly regarded as one of the most dangerous sectors where health and safety guidance is vital to protect workers.
“Unfortunately, so many of the victims of work accidents that we represent have suffered as a result of incidents on construction sites, demonstrating that there is a need to improve in this area.
“Events like this one organised by the HSE will undoubtedly play a key role in helping to educate firms on why they need to take the issue of safety seriously.
“I hope that a number of firms choose to go along to the event and find out how they can put measures in place which will ensure their staff are able to go to work and return home safe from harm at the end of the day.”
