HSE To Investigate Problems At Garden Show
An injury expert at Irwin Mitchell has called for answers over an incident in which three children were hospitalised when an inflatable slide came loose from its moorings.
Reports have revealed that a boy suffered a head injury and another had back pain following the incident, which took place around lunchtime on Sunday (May 22nd) at a garden show in Kent.
No details have yet been released on the third youngster to be taken to hospital, while others had to be treated by paramedics at the scene.
According to Kent Police, the Health and Safety Executive are expected to investigate events leading up to the incident.
Katrina Elsey, a public liability claims expert at Irwin Mitchell, said there were questions which need answering in relation to the incident.
She said: “Both the children involved and their families will want to know how the slide reportedly came loose from its moorings, as well as whether the problem could have been prevented.
“I’ve worked with a number of families who children have been injured as a result of safety failings at fairgrounds and on other attractions.
“The HSE needs to make sure that it works quickly and thoroughly to learn more about what happened, while also ensuring that lessons can be learnt from any serious failings which may be highlighted.
“Ultimately, it is vital that reassurances can be given that this kind of incident will not happen again.”
