

Hearing Set To Be Held This Week
An inquest is due to take place on Thursday 31st March to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of an 81-year-old Somerset pensioner.
Ellen Newman, from Weston Super Mare, died on 23rd June 2010 at Weston General Hospital, five weeks after being transferred from the Earlfield Lodge Retirement Home in Weston, where she had been a resident.
Assistant Deputy Coroner Mr Terrence G Moore for the District of Avon will hold the inquest, listed as a one-day hearing, into Mrs Newman’s death, starting at 10am at the Coroner’s Court in Flax Bourton.
Gillian Tayler, a medical law solicitor with Bristol based law firm, Irwin Mitchell, who is representing Mrs Newman’s family, said: “Ellen’s family have found it extremely hard to come to terms with what happened and very much hope that the inquest will shed light on the circumstances which led to her death.”
Mrs Newman, a widow, leaves behind two children, Mike and Vanessa.
