Police Appeal For Witnesses Over Fatal Crash
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Birmingham on Sunday morning (June 5th) in which four people were fatally injured.
West Midlands Police have revealed that a Citroen Saxo and Ford Fiesta were involved in the incident, with two women aged 28 and 34 travelling in the latter being killed in the crash.
A 40-year-old woman in the Saxo also died, while a 21-year-old man in the same car was taken to hospital but later passed away.
Both vehicles were carrying four people, with the rest of the passengers surviving the crash.
Stephen Nye, a Partner and road traffic collisions expert at Irwin Mitchell, said: “This was a truly horrific incident and clearly it will be vitally important to establish exactly what caused the collision.
“With such a major incident the police will be undertaking a painstaking investigation and allocating a great deal of resources to establishing the cause. Inevitably it will take some time to reach any conclusions.
“Any witnesses to the incident could hold vital information which will assist the police in reaching their conclusions. The police will be considering every possibility and their findings will hopefully go some way to avoiding similar incidents in the future.
“Ultimately, it is vital that every effort is made to learn lessons from the incident, which in turn can then be used to improve standards of road safety across Birmingham and the rest of the UK.”
