Expert Calls For Safety Issue 'To Be Addressed'
Authorities in Kent should make every effort to guarantee the safety of motorists travelling on the A259, a serious injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell has demanded.
Reports from the region have revealed that proposals to reduce the speed limit on certain parts of the road from 60mph to 50mph are expected to be scrapped, along with plans to cut it from 40mph to 30mph in another area.
A lack of funding is thought to be behind the decision, which has come despite three people being killed in accidents on the road over the past three month, reports thisiskent.co.uk.
Irwin Mitchell represents a number of clients across the country who have been injured in car crashes, as well as the families of those who have been killed as a result of such incidents.
Colin Ettinger, who specialises in road collision claims at Irwin Mitchell’s London office, said: “We regularly see the devastating impact that car crashes can have on both those seriously injured in them or the loved ones of those tragically killed.
“Many of our clients have also seen their lives completely changed by the serious injuries they have sustained.
“Because of this, it is concerning that reports suggest a reduction in the speed limit on some sections of the road – a move that could actively be step towards reducing the number of collisions – may not be pursued by the local authorities in the area.
“Reports of three deaths occurring on the A259 in recent months suggest there is a clearly a safety issue that needs to be addressed, and I would seriously urge the local council to think again in this respect.”
