Four Men Killed In Incident
The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into a workplace accident in Great Yarmouth which led to the tragic deaths of four men.
Reports have suggested that the men, all from Bury St Edmonds in Suffolk, suffered fatal injuries at the Claxton Engineering Services Ltd site when a steel structure collapsed and fell onto them.
In a statement, the company confirmed that construction work is being undertaken by external contractors at the North River Road complex, adding that it is “deeply saddened” by the events.
Irwin Mitchell has much experience of helping those injured in work accidents, as well as providing advice and support to the loved ones of those killed in such incidents.
David Urpeth, a Sheffield-based Partner and national head of workplace injuries at the law firm, said: “While only a few details have been confirmed in relation to the incident, it is clear that something went tragically wrong.
“As this tragic fatal accident shows, accidents at work can have a dramatic and horrific impact on both those involved and their loved ones.
“Health and safety must always be a priority for workers and any lessons that can be learnt from this case could prove vital in ensuring no one else is hurt in a similar manner.”
