Lawyers Reach Draw Against Footballers Half Their Size
The Penn Colts gave local lawyers a run for their money when they took them on in a fundraising match last weekend. On a typically cold November day, the Penn Colts played in a five-a-side match against a team of solicitors and paralegals from law firm Irwin Mitchell.
Despite a muddy pitch, there were plenty of goals the first half went to Penn Colts 6-3. After a stirring half time team talk the IM team rose to the challenge and ended the game as a 9-9 draw.
The match, held at the grounds behind Highfields Science Specialist School in Wolverhampton, raised £80, which the Penn Colts plan to spend on new kit.
Vishal Mahay, a solicitor in Irwin Mitchell’s international travel law department, said: “It was a great game, and surprisingly well balanced considering the age gap between the teams!
“The Penn Colts obviously train hard and take their football very seriously.
“We really enjoyed meeting the Penn Colts and their families, and travelling to this beautiful part of the country.”
The match was organised as part of Irwin Mitchell’s commitment to building links with the communities they serve.
