Authorities Investigating Cause Of Air Accident
Investigations are continuing into a plane crash in Canada earlier this month which claimed the lives of all four crew members, as well as eight of the passengers on board.
The First Air-operated Boeing 737-200 Combi was travelling from Yellowknife to Resolute Airport on August 20th when it came down just a few kilometres from its destination, with only three people surviving the incident.
Canada’s Transport Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the crash, with First Air stating that the cause of the air accident is not currently known.
Aviation law experts at Irwin Mitchell, who act for victims and the families of those killed or injured in plane crashes around the world, have urged authorities in Canada to carefully examine all aspects of the incident.
Jim Morris, a former RAF pilot and Partner based at the national law firm’s London office, said: “For the sake of all of those affected by this terrible incident, it is clear there are plenty of questions which need answering.
“We hope that the authorities quickly determine the cause or causes of this tragic incident. Of particular importance is whether there was any kind of mechanical or technical failure which could have contributed.
“The latter needs to be considered as any findings in relation to this could have a bearing on other aircraft and flight safety in general.
“Ultimately, every effort needs to be taken to determine what went wrong and to ensure lessons are learnt from incidents like this with a view to hopefully preventing further incidents like this in the future.”
