Personal Injury Team Joins Forces With NICE

Lawyers from leading Birmingham solicitors, Irwin Mitchell, have made Easter eggstra special for a local children’s charity.

A team of personal injury lawyers joined children and staff from the National Institute of Conductive Education for hours of back breaking spade work in November last year when they planted hundreds of tulip bulbs at the charity’s headquarters. Now five months later the result of the hard work is on show for all to see with the charity’s acronym ‘NICE’ spelt out in a glorious floral display.

And as an eggstra surprise for the youngsters, the Easter Bunny, also known as, Irwin Mitchell’s personal injury lawyer Tom Riis-Bristow, delivered a feast of chocolate to the Moseley based charity and led the youngsters on an egg hunt around the grounds.

Tom Riis-Bristow, one of the solicitors who organised the voluntary work said: “We work regularly with this charity and are always looking for ways to enhance the lives of the children who attend the school.

“When we planted the bulbs last year we hoped they would start to bloom in April so that when the charity’s Easter party came around we could admire all of our hard work with the children.”

NICE works to improve the lives of children and adults with neurological motor disorders. Staff at the charity said they were delighted that the children had an opportunity to take on a project with the lawyers and really enjoyed them returning to join their Easter party.

Wendy Baker from the charity commented: “The planting experience last November gave our children the opportunity to work together with members of the wider adult community and develop their social interaction and turn-taking skills. To see them again for our Easter party was a bonus and the children loved it!”

Tom added: “Hopefully we kicked off the children’s Easter holidays with a smile and, though some of them were a little frightened to see a giant rabbit at first, everyone soon joined in with the fun and had plenty of chocolate.

“It is just a real honour to be able to give something back to such a worth while cause and, to be honest; I thoroughly enjoyed both of our visits!”
