Irwin Mitchell Holds Fundraising Event
Staff from the Midlands’ office of law firm Irwin Mitchell competed against teams from around Britain, testing their brain power in the firm’s annual inter-office ‘Big Quiz.’
The fundraising event raised £400 locally for Irwin Mitchell’s Midlands’ charity of the year, the Tiny Babies Big Appeal.
Pam Dehal, a member of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation, helped to coordinate the event for the Temple Street, Birmingham office. She said: “Every Irwin Mitchell office throughout the country participated in the quiz, with each region raising money in support of its own chosen charity. In total, more than £2,200 was raised.”
The Tiny Babies Big Appeal is looking to raise £2 million towards the £7 million cost of building a new Neonatal Unit at Birmingham Women's Hospital. The number of sick and premature babies received by the Neonatal Unit from Birmingham Women’s Hospital and other hospitals across the West Midlands has increased over recent years.
The new Neonatal Centre will have capacity for up to 50 neonatal cots, including 20 for intensive care and will also provide care for pre-term newborn babies who have had surgery.
Pam added: “With so many lawyers taking part it can get very competitive and there’s a lot of friendly rivalry amongst the eight UK offices. This year, the Midlands’ team came a creditable fourth, with the Sheffield team taking top honours.”
