Irwin Mitchell sponsors charity wheelbarrow race in aid of The Nerve Centre on Saturday 16th May, 10am, McCauley Street, Huddersfield
Huddersfield based charity The Nerve Centre is giving locals the chance to win £100 of shopping vouchers by taking part in their first ever competitive wheelbarrow race around the town centre this Saturday 16th May.
The time-trial style fun race, sponsored by the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell is being held to raise vital funds for the charity, which offers support for people in the surrounding area who live with a neurological condition.
Competitors will push a wheelbarrow full of soft toys in teams of four around a specially constructed obstacle course on McCauley Street.
The team that records the fastest combined lap time will win the £100 shopping vouchers prize. Prizes will also be distributed for the best team fancy dress.
Anyone wishing to enter a relay team should contact Rikki Heppenstall at The Nerve Centre on 01484 469 853 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for entries is 11am on Saturday.
Irwin Mitchell solicitor, Deborah Kemp said: "We are very excited to be involved in such a novel and exciting fundraising event. The Nerve Centre is a very valuable specialist charity that makes a real difference to hundreds of people in Huddersfield.
"Daily we work with people who have suffered a head injury that leads to them having significant ongoing difficulties. Support services like those offered by The Nerve Centre are crucial to helping these people maintain as normal life as possible."
Rikki Heppenstall at The Nerve Centre said: "We are very grateful for all the support that Irwin Mitchell have provided for the race day. It's great that they are not only providing prizes but are volunteering too. We are really looking forward to seeing young and old alike racing around; it should be a lot of fun.
"We hope lots of people will come down and pledge their support, and of course get involved in race itself. You don't need any special skills to enter, anyone could win it!"
