Accident On The Isle Of Wight
A 90-year-old woman has died after she was involved in a collision with a mobility scooter, police have said.
Lillian Macey, of Harlow, Essex, was taken to St Mary's Hospital in Newport after the accident in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. She was then transferred to Salisbury Hospital where she died.
The collision happened on the pavement after Mrs Macey had reached the end of a zebra crossing on Sandown High Street.
Police are questioning the 76-year-old man who was driving the scooter, but he has not been arrested.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out by a Home Office pathologist.
Acting Inspector of Hampshire Police, Paul Bailey, said: "We need to hear from any witnesses who saw the collision or who saw the blue scooter being driven prior to the collision.
"It is important to reach any witnesses who may have been holidaying on the Isle of Wight and have returned to their homes."

Katrina Elsey from law firm Irwin Mitchell: “Unfortunately, serious injuries can occur as a result of scooter accidents. I urge drivers of mobility scooters to keep proper lookout
and to have sufficient regard for the safety and welfare of pedestrians whilst driving these scooters on the road."
