Briton Dies In Bus Crash Abroad
The Foreign Office has confirmed that a British grandmother has been killed in a road traffic accident in Egypt.
Beryl Slevin, who was 66, died when the minibus she was travelling in crashed on Wednesday between Marsa Alam and Luxor.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said that Mrs Slevin's husband, Tony, 70, was seriously injured in the incident, while two other Britons escaped from the vehicle unharmed.
The spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that one British national was killed and another injured." Mr Slevin is in hospital in a stable condition, she added.
The retired couple, who are from Salford, Manchester, have six grandchildren. Mrs Slevin was a retired machinist and her husband used to work at Hope Hospital in Manchester as a maintenance manager.
The couple's sons, Anthony, 45, and Martin, 47, are flying to Egypt to be with their father.
Anthony's wife, Tracey Slevin, 44, said: "They are absolutely devastated. They just want to be with their dad at this time.
"We don't know what's happened, why it's happened or whose fault it is.
"They have spoken to their dad. He is conscious, he is in a lot of pain."
